About the list
The list holds about 150 groups of names. It was compiled from our own knowledge of how these names are written in different languages and romanisations, cross-checked against public name-authority and reference sources: the Library of Congress romanization tables, the Wikipedia articles on the names and on romanisation, and the Behind the Name database.
Not in our list does not mean the spellings are different. The list is short and covers common cases only.
Whether two documents match is for the office receiving them to judge, not us. We translate what is written on your document and keep each name exactly as it is spelled there.
