Is my scan readable?

Choose a photograph of a document and this page measures how sharp, how bright and how large it is, then tells you in plain words what to fix before you send it.

Nothing is uploaded. The picture is opened and measured by your own browser, and this page has no way to send it anywhere. It also needs nothing from any other website, so it still works if you turn your connection off after the page loads.

What this can and cannot tell you

This checks the photo, not the document. A person reads every document we receive.

It is a rough measurement of the picture: how sharp the edges of the writing are, how dark or bright it is, how much the writing stands out from the paper, whether anything seems to run off the edge, and how many pixels it has. The edge check in particular is an estimate and can be wrong on a patterned table. A pass here does not promise a perfect result and a warning does not mean we cannot read your document; it only suggests what to retake. Some phones save pictures in a format your browser cannot open (HEIC): if so, share the photo as a JPG and try again.
